Professional Packing Services across Dorset, Somerset & Wiltshire
Marley Moves provides full and part packing services across Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire, using a methodical room-by-room approach and appropriate protective materials. Crockery and ornaments are wrapped carefully, boxes are labelled by room, and furniture is protected for the journey. Many customers ask us to handle the kitchen, glassware and other fragile items while they pack books, clothes and bedding themselves. Full packing is available when time is tight or when a home contains a larger volume of fragile, antique or specialist items. Packing is quoted clearly as part of, or alongside, the removal.

What's included
Acid-free tissue + bubble wrap
Acid-free white tissue for crockery, ornaments and ceramics. Bubble wrap and foam for picture frames, mirrors, electronics. Industrial-grade, not the corner-shop version.
Double-walled boxes, labelled
Small for books and breakables, medium for general contents, large for bedding and soft furnishings. Every box labelled with room and contents on the side, so unpacking goes to the right rooms first time.
Double-walled crates for the fragile
Genuinely valuable or breakable pieces (collections, lamps, glassware, ceramics worth keeping) go into double-walled bespoke crates with internal padding. Used wherever the standard box would be a risk.
Blanket-wrap on furniture
Sofas, dressers, beds, dining tables, every item of furniture gets wrapped in moving blankets and secured with stretch film for the journey. Standard, not an upgrade.
Same crew that does the removal
The people who pack are the people who load and unload. No handover risk, no "sorry, we don't have notes on that", they remember what they wrapped and where it goes.
Insurance covers the pack
£50k goods-in-transit cover per load applies to everything our crew packs. If you pack a box yourself, damage to what is inside it is not covered, even in our materials, which is the main reason people hand us the breakables. Higher cover available on request for art, antiques, collections over £50k. Single items worth more than £5,000 need to be declared before the move so we can confirm cover.
Near you
Packing services near me, what's in our radius
When customers search "packing services near me" they usually want full-pack-the-day-before-you-move help on a tight timeline. We run packing across the same 25-mile radius as our removals, from our Shaftesbury, SP7 yard, so the sixteen towns inside that band, including Shaftesbury, Sherborne, Wincanton, Yeovil, Salisbury, Frome and Bath, are all on the standard packing schedule. Bigger jobs (full packs of 4-bed plus homes) get a two-day window so nothing's rushed. Smaller packs (kitchen-and-fragile only) typically run as a single-day visit on the day before move day. Same in-house crew that loads your van the next morning, so there's no handover risk between two suppliers.

Honest scope
What our packers will and won't do
It saves everyone a row on move day if we're clear about scope upfront. Our packing crews will: pack every box for you (kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, garage, attic, the lot), wrap furniture in moving blankets, use acid-free tissue for ceramics and double-walled crates for fragile glass, label every box by room and contents, take down freestanding shelving and reassemble it at the new place, and disconnect plug-in appliances. They won't: take down curtain poles screwed into the wall, deep-clean the property after packing, disconnect hard-wired appliances (gas hobs, hard-wired ovens, integrated dishwashers, that's a plumber or electrician's job), pack live plants or paint cans (insurance won't cover them in transit), or pack things into someone else's already-half-packed boxes (we end up double-packing or leaving a gap in the inventory either way). If you'd like us to handle the curtain poles or the cleaning as a separate add-on, we'll quote those alongside the pack rather than bundle them.

How it works
From quote to settle-in
- 01
Survey + quote
We see the volume during your removal survey and quote the pack alongside it. Full or part, your call.
- 02
Materials drop
If you're self-packing some of it, we drop boxes / tissue / wrap a week ahead. No charge for the delivery.
- 03
Packing day
Crew arrives 1-2 days before move (3-bed-plus) or morning-of for smaller homes. Methodical, room-by-room, labelled as we go.
- 04
Unpack option
Want us to unpack too? Add it on, kitchen + bedrooms typical, full unpack on request. Walk into a properly set-up home, not a wall of cardboard.
Frequent questions
What people ask about Packing
Packing is priced on volume: a 1-bed flat full pack, a 3-bed home and a 4-5 bed family home each get their own figure, set out in writing. Part packing (kitchen + breakables only, you handle the rest) is typically around half a full pack. Quoted alongside your removal, no double-trip or set-up fees because we're already on site for the move.
Full packing makes sense if you're time-pressed (sale completion week, work commitments), have a lot of fragile contents (collections, art, antiques), or simply want it done properly without the box-cutter stress. Part packing, typically the kitchen and breakables, is what most of our customers add on; the rest of the house is yours to box up at your own pace using materials we drop off.
Acid-free white tissue paper for crockery and ornaments, double-walled cardboard boxes (small for books and breakables, medium for general, large for bedding), bubble wrap and foam for picture frames and electronics, blanket-wrap for furniture, double-walled crates for the most fragile pieces, ratchet straps and shrink film for the journey. All boxes labelled by room.
Yes, collections are routine work for us. Each piece individually wrapped in acid-free tissue, packed standing where possible, framed art double-faced with foam corners and bubble-wrapped flat in custom cardboard sleeves, large framed pieces crated. We carry £50,000 goods-in-transit cover per load and can extend it for higher-value contents on request.
Both options. For a 1-2 bed full pack we usually do it the morning of the move, an hour or two before loading. For 3-bed-plus homes we'll often pack 1-2 days ahead so move day itself is just loading the labelled boxes, much smoother. We work around your schedule; the survey conversation tells us what's right.
Yes. Unpacking is available as an add-on and can be tailored to what you need, from selected rooms such as the kitchen and bedrooms through to a fuller unpack. The scope and price are agreed in writing before the move, so you can choose how much you want the crew to handle and what you would rather unpack yourself.
Yes, we'll supply boxes, tissue paper, bubble wrap and tape at material-cost prices, dropped off a week before move day. Most customers self-pack the books, clothes and non-fragile items and ask us to do the kitchen + breakables. Best of both worlds, lowest total cost.

Sensitive, licensed, properly insured
Marley Moves provides sensitive house clearances across Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire for probate, downsizing, end-of-tenancy, post-bereavement and hoarder-property situations. We agree what must be kept before work begins, separate usable items for donation where appropriate, recycle what we can and use licensed disposal routes for genuine waste. Probate and estate clearances are planned around the executor’s or solicitor’s timetable, with photographs and family-kept items handled carefully. Where a visit is useful, we inspect the property before quoting so the written price reflects the access, volume and agreed scope. Many clearances are completed in a day; larger properties can take longer.
