4. Written fixed quotes
Not a verbal estimate. Not a 'rough figure'. A written quote with the crew size, vehicle, services included, and total fixed price.
5. Survey offered
For any move larger than a studio, a good firm will offer a video or in-person survey. It takes 15 minutes and makes the quote accurate. Firms that skip the survey are either very experienced or pricing blind.
6. The same people from quote to delivery
Ask: will the crew that arrives be your staff, or subcontractors? In-house crews care more, because they come back to the same business tomorrow.
Shortlist to three
Three quotes is the sweet spot. More than that and you're doing project management. Fewer than that and you can't tell good from average.
