Combining removals and storage: when one booking is better than two
Staggered moves, house sales that slip, renovations between homes. How storage + removals as one booking saves money.
Moving and storage are often booked as two separate jobs: a removal firm to get it out, then self-storage to hold it, then another removal to get it to the new place.
Double the cost, double the handling, double the risk of damage. Combining them with one firm is usually cheaper and always simpler.
When combined booking makes sense
House sale and purchase dates don't line up (happens in about 40% of chain moves).
Renovation or builder work between moves.
Downsizing and not ready to sell or bin everything yet.
Probate and estate moves where belongings need holding while decisions are made.
Overseas postings where belongings need home storage for 6–12 months.

What storage looks like
Clean, dry, monitored, indoor. By the week or by the month. No minimum term.
For smaller quantities, we use dedicated storage vaults (built wooden crates) rather than rented units — more secure and cheaper at small volumes.
What you pay
For a 3-bed move with 2 months of storage, typical cost is £1,200–£1,600 vs. £1,800–£2,200 if you book all three legs separately.
When to ask for a combined quote
As early as possible. We can hold dates loosely until your completion is confirmed.
