Event logistics with Marley Moves: how we move exhibitions, galleries, and trade shows

Event work is different from house removals. The pace is faster, the deadline is fixed, and the stakes of missing it are high. Here's how our event logistics side runs.

The planning window

Three weeks out: site visit, access check, timeline drafted.

Two weeks out: crew assigned, vehicle booked, paperwork confirmed.

One week out: final walk-through, materials prepped.

Day of: on-site early, handover at each stage, photos logged.

Vehicles

For most gallery and exhibition work, a Luton van or a 7.5-tonne truck does the job. For larger trade-show builds we can subcontract 18-tonners — the only time we subcontract, and always with crews we've worked with for years.

Crews

Two-person minimum for specialist work. Four for larger installs. All in-house.

For gallery jobs specifically, crews work with cotton gloves, full condition reports before loading, and photo documentation at each handover.

Insurance

£50k goods in transit per load as standard. For higher-value exhibitions we can increase cover — needs 14 days' notice for the insurer.

Typical jobs

Frieze London install runs. Gallery exhibitions in and out of Bristol, Bath, and London. Private collector transfers. Corporate trade-show fit-outs. Pop-up installations.

Booking

Event work goes through the normal quote form, but flag it as 'event' in the notes. We'll come back with a scoped plan and a line-item quote within 24 hours.
